Your privacy
Privacy Policy
Your privacy and confidentiality matter to me. This policy explains what personal information I collect, how I use and protect it, and your rights under UK data protection law.
Who I am
I am Bradley Riddell, trading as ADART Counselling & Therapy, a counsellor and psychotherapist based at Intergen House, 65-67 Western Road, Hove, Brighton BN3 2JQ. I am the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can reach me at bradrid@gmail.com or on 07914 681995.
What information I collect
- Contact details you give me through the enquiry form, by email or by phone (such as your name, phone number and email address).
- Information you choose to share about what you would like support with.
- Brief, confidential session notes if you go on to work with me, kept securely as part of professional practice.
How I use your information
I use your information only to respond to your enquiry, arrange and provide counselling, and keep the records that professional and ethical practice requires. I do not use it for marketing and I never sell it.
Lawful basis
I process enquiry details on the basis of your consent and my legitimate interest in responding to you. Where I hold information relating to your health as part of counselling, I rely on your explicit consent and the conditions for processing special category data under UK GDPR.
Confidentiality and sharing
What you share is treated as confidential. I do not share your information with anyone outside the therapy room, with three limited exceptions: regular clinical supervision (where you are not identified and my supervisor is bound by the same confidentiality), where there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or where I am required to by law or a court order. Wherever possible I will discuss this with you first.
Service providers who process data for me
To run this website and receive your enquiries, a small number of trusted providers process limited information on my behalf, under contract and only on my instructions. They are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
- Contact form — when you send an enquiry through the website form, it is delivered to my inbox by a secure form-handling service (Web3Forms). The details you submit pass through that service purely to reach me.
- Website hosting — the site is hosted on a reputable cloud platform, which may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability.
- Email — I receive and reply to enquiries using a standard email provider.
Where any provider stores data outside the UK, it is covered by appropriate safeguards under UK data protection law. Confidential counselling notes are not kept on this website or shared with any of these providers.
How I keep your information secure
Information is held securely and access is limited to me. The website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and any records relating to your counselling are stored with appropriate care, in line with BACP guidance.
How long I keep it
I keep records securely and only for as long as is necessary, in line with BACP guidance and legal requirements, after which they are securely destroyed.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, just contact me. If you are unhappy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
