Online Trauma Counselling · Cambridge
Online trauma counselling for Cambridge, by secure video, wherever you are. There is no map to follow and no unfamiliar building to find. For people in Cambridge, online trauma counselling turns the door to the session into a simple, private link from a space you already feel safe in.
Across Cambridge, from the colleges and the centre to Mill Road, Cherry Hinton and Chesterton, and from the streets around the colleges, the Backs and the river Cam, online trauma counselling takes the logistics out of getting help: no commute, no waiting room, and the focus kept where it belongs, on you.
Hove is where my room is, but the support is not tied to Sussex. Over a secure link I work with people in Cambridge and far beyond, with the same depth and confidentiality as meeting face to face.
I also work online with people elsewhere in East of England, including Peterborough, Norwich, Ipswich.
If you would still prefer to meet in person and can travel to the Sussex coast, you are welcome to, but for most clients in Cambridge online trauma counselling is the natural and effective choice.
Life in Cambridge
Cambridge carries an extraordinary concentration of academic and professional high achievement, and with it some of the highest living costs in the country. The pressure to perform, whether you are a student, a researcher or working in its booming science and tech sector, can leave little room to admit you are struggling.
In a university city the academic year sets a relentless pace, and the pressure to keep performing can make it hard to admit you are struggling. Online sessions fit around terms, deadlines and shift patterns rather than fighting them.
What I help with
Support for flashbacks, nightmares and re-experiencing.
Help when your nervous system is stuck on high alert.
For when you cope by shutting down.
Healing the wound that drives the habit.
Reaching the quieter, accumulated hurts.
Working always at a pace that is led by you.
Why online works in Cambridge
If your week in Cambridge runs on the early train and the late return, online sessions slot into the day without adding another journey to it.
Working online means people in Cambridge aren't limited to whoever practises locally. You can choose the counsellor who genuinely fits the issue you're facing, not just the nearest one.
A weekly session you can take from home is far simpler to protect than one that needs travel. That consistency is exactly where lasting change comes from.
Sessions run on a secure, encrypted video link, and everything is held to the same strict BACP confidentiality as work done in person.
Once the practical side is sorted, this is what the work looks like. I am integratively trained and draw on approaches designed specifically for trauma, including the Human Givens Rewind Technique, a calm, non-intrusive method that returns a memory to ordinary recall. You do not have to relive the detail or even speak it aloud for this to work.
The setup is light: somewhere quiet, a phone, tablet or laptop, and a workable connection. We open with a free fifteen-minute call, and after that each session is a secure link you click when the time comes.

Start the conversationMy online counselling sits alongside the help available locally, and it can be worth knowing what else is there. In Cambridge, you can refer yourself directly to NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Talking Therapies for free NHS talking therapy, with no GP referral needed. You can also find your nearest service through the NHS Talking Therapies finder.
Private sessions with me usually mean you can start sooner, stay with the same counsellor throughout, and work at greater depth and pace; the two can run side by side, and I'm glad to work alongside any NHS or GP support you already have.
This practice is not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option. The Samaritans are free, day or night, on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258.
Cambridge questions
Yes. I work with clients in Cambridge and right across the UK by secure video. You don't need to live near Brighton or Hove; online trauma counselling brings the same care to wherever you are.
We meet over a secure, private video link at a time that suits you. You'll need a quiet space, a device with a camera and a steady connection. We always begin with a free fifteen-minute call so you can ask questions and check the fit.
Online and in-person therapy are similarly effective for most people, and clients usually settle quickly once the screen fades into the background and the conversation takes over.
Yes, and many people do both. You can access support from NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Talking Therapies alongside our work; private counselling simply means you can usually start sooner and stay with the same counsellor throughout. I'm happy to work alongside any NHS support you're receiving.
The simplest first step from Cambridge is a free fifteen-minute call. There's no obligation, just a chance to ask anything and see how it feels.
